70's Flare

It has been pretty chilly the past couple of days and I'm already starting to embrace fall.  I painted my nails a jade jewel tone, I'm wearing a crimson color eyeshadow and I bought new pair of flare jeans.  I love my new jeans and think I will be going back to buy a few more pairs.  What do you think of the modern 70's flare.  I'm totally embracing :)

.Automat.

Last night for Matt's b-day we went to Automat to enjoy some U.S.D.A Nebraska corn fed beef and it was everything we wanted.  A taste of home, great atmosphere and awesome service.  Matt is an old soul at heart and it's one of the qualities I love about him.  Last night was all about him and he enjoyed a bourbon with one ice cube, a little Frank Sinatra and was all smiles with his Nebraska hamburger.  All he was missing was a cigar.

For his birthday I bought him a nice bottle of one his favorite Scotch Whisky since he is a Scotch Man. He is very particular how he drinks it and thought I would share Matt's "Proper" way to taste it.

  • Add a small amount of lukewarm water to release the flavor of the whisky.
  • Then cover your glass with the palm of your hand and firmly shake
  • Place your nose deep into the glass and take 2 sharp sniffs
  • Take a sip from the glass and swirl it around your mouth before swallowing it
  • Enjoy the flavors!

As I promised on facebook here is the pie I made him.  Its a Reese's Peanut Butter and Hershey Chocolate Pie.  I could not find graham cracker crust or graham crackers so I improvised and made my own from Golden Oreo's.  It taste really good!  Definitely recommend it.  The decorating was lacking on it because it was overflowing.

Sunday DIY

I found this DIY bracelet at Honestly...WTF and had to recreate it!  I am nuts about it..quite literally!  I used leather to make one and twine for the other two.  I think they turned out pretty good what do you think?

What you’ll need:
  • 3 strands of twine or leather cut into one yard pieces
  • 18 small brass hex nuts
  • Braid the hex nuts into the bracelet

Family, Positive Energy and Andy Warhol

My parents left this morning.  It was great having them hear and it was sad to see them go.  Two weeks went by soo fast.  They truly are the best parents in the world.  They not only showered us with gifts from the states but they made sure to leave our place better then when they arrived.  My dad is "Mr. Fix-it" and that is exactly what he did.  We got a new mirror in the bathroom, the shower door is fixed, our ottoman is now a coffee table, and the list goes on.  He also tweaked anything else that was not up to his standards.  I can't wait to see them in a month when I head back to the states.

Before they left they gave me a few last minute gifts and they are awesome.  They gave me a Monica Vinader Fiji Bracelet.  Its friendship bracelet, they come in 9 different colors and each color has its own unique meaning.  I received black- which means Energy.  They picked black because they thought it most resembled my style and I completely agree.   I also got a Andy Warhol diary.  I am huge "to do list" type of person and love to write things down.  It is small enough to fit in my purse and it is just perfect.  Gotta love Andy Warhol.  The last gift was an Alexander McQueen skull scarf in Navy and Hot Pink.  I LOVE it! Will probably be wearing it everyday along with my bracelet :)

Happy Friday!!
