Wedding Wednesday

It's definitely wedding season!  Matt and I have received 7 invitations/Save the Dates in the last couple of months.  A few of my closets friends are getting married this year and I am so excited to be a part of them.  I love weddings and after looking through my blog posts I noticed I've never done anything about weddings.  That is just crazy!   So here you go a post about weddings...well wedding day nails.

I started a nail care regime about 6 months out.  I had a bad habit of biting my nails back in college, once I finally stopped and let them grow I noticed my nails had become pretty damaged.  They would chip or break all the time.  I started getting full manicures once a month and in between I would do my own manicure.  As the wedding got closer, I started to get full manicures weekly.  It was a great way to test out colors for the big day.   I ended up choosing Essie Ballet Slippers for my nails and Essie Really Red for my toes.

I stuck to the classic nude for my wedding but if I were to get married now I think I would choose red.  I just love the pop of color against a white dress.  What do you think?  Would you do red on your wedding day?

It's that time again ladies and gents!  Nails of week, my little obsession brought to you.  My twist on the french manicure.

Grumpy and Sleepy with a side of inspiration

I'm a little grumpy this morning and it is mostly my fault but not entirely.  I was about to head into bed and on the TV were previews for "What did I do last night" and I was hooked.  They follow people around for a night of drinking and show them what they did the next morning.  Most of the people think they had an awesome night until they watch.  So...duh I had to watch.  It doesn't end there, I watched an episode of I didn't know I was pregnant and Intervention.   It was 1am at this point and was like enough go to bed even though I really wanted to stay up for Jersey Shore since I missed that episode, but I went to bed.  Well, tried to go to bed.

Sleep is my favorite thing in the world-love it.  I jumped into bed waking Matt up and giving him a kiss as he rolled over, this is a regular occurrence and I am sure he is annoyed by now.  I got all situated and started to fall asleep when all of a sudden our fan starts making this noise.  I thought I was hearing things so I listened again and nothing.  Okay, so I got comfortable again and as soon as I start to dose off, there it is again.  Like are you kidding me?  This time I sit up and stare directly at the fan, as if I am going to intimidate it and nothing.   I lay back down, I am not going to fall asleep but act as if in hopes to maybe trick the fan.  Ten minutes go by and nothing so I decide to dose off.  That doesn't last long at 2:30am I wake up to the noise again.  I was pissed and I hopped out of bed to try and fix it with no avail.  The noise did not stop for the rest of the night.  So I hardly got any sleep.  You know what annoys me the most I look over and Matt is sound asleep like nothing is going on.  How does he not hear that.  Ugh so today I am a little lot grumpy and sleepy.

Okay enough about that...lets talk nails.   I found this nail inspiration at emeraldsparkled and wanted to recreate it.  I started with a black base coat, cut tape and made a triangle, placed on my nail and painted the bottom red and top silver for the game this weekend.  Let me know what you think.  My picture is blurry-sorry.  That is what happens when you only get 2 hours of sleep :(

Game Day Nails

Tomorrow is the big day- Nebraska's first game in the Big 10!  Matt was on the phone and internet all last night setting up an International Big 10 package so we can watch all the games.  I think we will be making some Championship Bean dip (thanks Casey)!!

I have been Sker'd out all this week and I wanted to jazz up my nails so I tried painting a Nebraska N on them.  It was my first try and with the pressure of pictures (ha) I figured it wouldn't be my best but here it is.  Next week I am going to do Black Nails with a Red N.  It will probably look better ;)

What you need

• Red, Black, Silver or White nail polish.  Whatever colors your heart desires
• Scissors
• Tape

I already had a Silver base coat so I went with Silver and Red.  Apply your base coat.  This is the color you want the N to be.

First Coat

Second Coat

Cut 3 pieces of tape and make a N with them on your finger

Paint over the tape with your second color -make sure to paint entire nail. Let dry and remove tape carefully.

Voila!

Navy and Copper

A little Manicure Mondays Thursdays for you.  Last week I did a light pink with gold glitter french tip and this week I decided to go darker with a navy and a cascading glitter copper top.  I actually started in the middle of my nail and lighted dabbed the glitter and progressively added more glitter toward the top.  I used a triangle sponge you use for makeup to apply the glitter.  Let me know what you think.
